What does hail and wind damage look like on siding?

• Hail: circular cracks, chips or holes, most often on the elevation facing the storm. On vinyl it may only show in raking light, which is why we photograph at an angle.
• Wind: panels unzipped from the locking course, torn nail hems, whole sections missing. Wind damage often runs the length of an elevation.
• Impact: a limb strike, usually localised but often through to the sheathing.
• Water: soft or stained substrate behind the panel, which means the failure has been going on longer than the storm.

Will the repair match the rest of my wall?

We find out before you commit, not after. The proposed replacement is physically obtained and held against your existing siding in natural daylight, and photographed from close range and from the street.

If it does not match, that photographed evidence is the argument for a larger scope with your carrier rather than a patch that leaves your house looking repaired. If it does match, you get a repair for a fraction of a replacement.

Can you repair siding in cold weather?

With care. Vinyl becomes brittle as the temperature drops and panels crack when they are flexed to unlock them, so a repair that is straightforward in June can turn into a larger section in January.

For active water intrusion we stabilise now and complete the permanent repair when conditions allow. Cleveland doubles and century homes often still run built-in box gutters, which behave nothing like a hung K-style run and fail differently when they ice.
