Gutter DamageClaims
Don’t Leave Them Off
Hail that bruised your roof dented your gutters on the way down; the ice dam that stained your ceiling tore the gutter half off the fascia. Both belong in the claim — both usually get forgotten.
Before we price Gutter Damage Claims, we look at depreciation, line-item pricing and the photo record — the details that decide how long the work holds. You get a photographed assessment and a written scope with no obligation, and if the cause traces to a storm we document it for your carrier. Licensed and insured in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.

Are damaged gutters covered by insurance?
Gutters damaged by a covered event are generally part of the claim, including dents from hail and separation from wind or ice loading. They are frequently under-scoped because the adjuster focuses on the roof. Documenting gutter condition separately, with its own photographs, is what gets it included. Related: hail damage claims and siding damage claims.

Dents, Tears, And Everything Attached
Functional damage is obvious — runs ripped down by ice weight, downspouts crushed by limbs. But cosmetic hail denting on aluminum is claimable damage too: the metal is compromised and matching aged aluminum has the same problem as matching aged siding. And when a gutter tears off, it takes fascia and drip edge with it — line items that belong in the same claim, along with the proper reinstallation afterward.
Never A Standalone Afterthought
Gutter damage rarely travels alone — the same storm hit the roof and siding, and the strongest claim documents the whole exterior at once. On full roof replacements, gutters also earn detach-and-reset or replacement line items that first estimates routinely omit. We audit every storm claim for the gutter scope, because a few hundred feet of 6" aluminum is real money to leave on the table.

Claim Documentation From The Field

Claim Questions, Answered Like We File Them
Are hail-dented gutters really covered?+
Typically yes — dents are physical storm damage to a covered structure component. Carriers sometimes argue “cosmetic”; documentation and persistence answer that.
My ice dam tore the gutter off — claim or just fix it?+
Claim it, along with the fascia it took and any interior water damage from the same dam. One event, one complete claim.
The roof claim was approved but gutters weren’t mentioned — too late?+
Usually not — that’s a supplement. We document the gutter damage and add it to the open claim.
Will insurance pay for gutter guards too?+
Guards are an upgrade, not a like-kind replacement, so typically no — but claim-funded new gutters are the perfect time to add them at install pricing.
Does insurance cover hail-dented gutters?+
Typically yes — dents are physical storm damage to a covered component. Carriers sometimes argue ’cosmetic’; documentation and persistence answer that.
Are gutters included in a roof insurance claim?+
They should be — same storm, same claim — plus detach-and-reset line items when the roof gets replaced. It’s the most commonly forgotten scope we audit back in.
How do you prove hail damage on gutters?+
Dent patterns on top surfaces and strike density consistent with the storm — photographed with scale references, alongside the roof evidence from the same event.
Will insurance replace all my gutters if only one side is damaged?+
When matching aged finishes fails on the undamaged runs, uniform-appearance arguments can extend scope — the same logic as siding, at gutter scale.
