Properly sloped solid pipe empties between events, so there is nothing standing to freeze — the corrugated bellies that hold water are the systems with ice problems.

On flat lots or anywhere surface extensions can’t get water past the foundation zone — yes, it’s the permanent version of the extension across the lawn.

Smooth solid PVC, decisively — it self-cleans, resists roots, survives lawn equipment, and can be rodded clear. Corrugated is the false economy we dig out.

Consistent fall to the outlet — roughly an eighth to a quarter inch per foot — enough to self-empty between rains so nothing stands to freeze.

A designed exit: pop-up emitter or daylight downslope, a catch basin, or a gravel dispersion bed — legal, downhill, and away from your foundation.

If water is getting in, or the damage is spreading to something more expensive, now. If it's cosmetic and stable, it can be planned. We'll tell you which it is in writing after the inspection.
